LAHORE – A dairy farm of Al-Tahoor, located in Kasur was seized by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday because it is owned by Moonis Elahi, who is allegedly involved in a land scam of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL). Sources said that the FIA officials on Wednesday raided the said dairy and seized it, taking charge of all the activities.
All the workers are doing their jobs and the aim is to stop the movement of tractors, animals and other possessions from the locality, the source added. Moonis’s name first surfaced in the NICL scam when former chairman NICL, Ayaz Khan Niazi, revealed to the FIA that a sum of Rs 230 million was also paid to Moonis Elahi by Mohsin Warriach, the key accused who is now absconding in London.
In light of Niazi’s statement, Al-Tahoor Private Limited’s manager, Abdul Malik, was picked up by FIA. He reportedly told the FIA that it was true that a sum of Rs 230 million was transferred to a fake bank account set up for Moonis Elahi. Moonis was summoned couple of weeks ago by FIA but he has not responded.
FIA then contacted the British government and requested them to seize Moonis Elahi’s bank accounts there and requesting the courts to declare him as proclaimed offender, which he was. Earlier, second legal notice worth Rs 100 million was sent by Moonis Elahi’s legal team to Additional Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Zafar Qureshi for defaming Elahi in a media trial.
