LAHORE – The Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday with religious fervour. Mosques, bazaars, shopping malls, markets, houses and all major government and private buildings were fully decorated for the occasion. The day began with special prayers for development and progress of the country.
A large number of Milad processions and rallies were taken out from various parts of the city. Naat and recitation competitions were also organised on the occasion. Law enforcement agencies remained fully alert by keeping in mind the present law and order situation in the country and no untoward incident was witnessed. After sunset, torch-bearing processions were taken out and children prepared models to celebrate the occasion.
The main procession of the Markazi Committee Taqribaat-e-Jashan-e-Eid Miladun Nabi was taken out from the railway station to the Data Darbar. Around 50 small and big processions also joined the rally from various areas. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Senator Jahangir Badar, Malik Aftab Rabbani, Justice (r) Munir Mughal and Akram Bito inaugurated the procession. After Asar prayers, the Dawat-e-Islami arranged a rally from the railway station to the Data Darbar. Tehreek-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Mahaz leader Atharul Qadri led a procession from the Shah Pur Kanjraan to Thokar Niaz Baig. Participants of the rally vowed to foil government efforts to release US national Raymond Davis.
Addressing a seerat conference held at the Jamia Sirajia Naeemia, Mughalpura, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Samia Raheel Qazi said that Muslims have only one way of making development, which is following teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Begum Sarfaraz Naeemi and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ghazala Saad Rafique also spoke on the occasion.
Addressing participants of a Miladun Nabi Conference, Minhajul Quran leader Tahirul Qadri said that respect and reverence for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is part of the faith of a Muslim and Rabiul Awal holds special importance for demonstration of this love and respect.
He said that the grounds of the historic Minar-e-Pakistan have been a witness of Muslims’ love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) for the last 27 years adding that Islam is a religion of peace, mercy, compassion and human welfare and Muslims are custodians and inheritors of this unique legacy in the world. “No terrorist or a suicide bomber can be a follower of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he added.
