LAHORE – The Bank of Punjab Chairman AZK Sherdil has died due to a heart attack here on Wednesday (February 16). Later, he was laid to rest in his home town i.e. Lahore. The funeral was attended by a large number of bureaucrats and senior politicians. His qul ceremony would be held on Friday (today) at 4 pm at his residence in Defence.
AZK Sherdil was a retired senior DMG officer who served in the capacity of Chief Secretary of Punjab and Balochistan. He was highly regarded in the bureaucracy circle. In November 2010, he took charge of Bank of Punjab, filling the seat that was vacant for two and half months. Meanwhile, Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and Punjab Revenue Minister Haji Muhammad Ishaq expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of AZK Sherdil.
In their condolence messages, the ministers prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.
