PPP Women Wing meeting reposes confidence in President Zardari

KARACHI – The PPP Women Wing Karachi Division held a meeting on Tuesday to repose confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also the co-chairman of the PPP, and Faryal Talpur, president of the PPP Women’s Wing Pakistan. The meeting was held at the People’s Secretariat and chaired by PPP Women Wing Sindh Information Secretary Sharmila Farooqui.
It was attended by all PPP women wing information secretaries of Karachi’s 18 towns.
The meeting unanimously passed a resolution, reposing trust in the leadership of the President Zardari and Faryal Talpur. The resolution read that Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur are following the footsteps of the founding leader of the party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his daughter Benazir Bhutto, and striving to make democracy flourish in the country and strengthen democratic institutions.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Farooqui said that it was the PPP-led government that announced and implemented the 7th National Finance Commission Award and the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, passed the 18th and 19th Constitutional Amendments, resolved the concurrent list issue, granted provincial autonomy, passed laws on domestic violence and other important bills through the parliament, helped reinstate sacked employees and provided jobs to thousands of youngsters.
“The PPP is following the political thoughts of its great leader Benazir Bhutto and has been promoting political reconciliation among all political parties and national harmony among all federating units,” she added. Appreciating the role of the media, Farooqui said that the media has supported the PPP’s struggle against dictatorship and for the restoration of democracy in the country. She said that President Zardari has ensured the reinstatement of employees sacked by previous regimes and provided employment to thousands of jobless youth in government departments.
Farooqui said that President Zardari played a significant role in the passage of important bills on rights and provincial autonomy in the parliament. She urged the information secretaries of the PPP Women Wing Karachi Division to raise awareness among the masses about the PPP government’s measures for the protection of people’s rights. She pledged that the PPP Women Wing Sindh would continue supporting the government, besides highlighting the remarkable steps it has taken for the progress and prosperity of the country.
