LAHORE – National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Central on Tuesday has launched a campaign against illegal U-turns and encroachments on national highways, said NH&MP N-5 Central DIG Syed Ibne Hussain while addressing a Police Darbar in Beat 13. The DIG said that illegal U-turns and encroachments on national highways were a permanent hazard for the free flow of traffic and road safety.
He instructed the beat commander to enhance coordination with National Highway Authority (NHA) to remove Illegal U-turns and encroachments. He further said that unauthorized use of blue revolving lights was posing a security risk and it could be used for criminal activities. Therefore, a special campaign will be launched against the violators, irrespective of their social standings.
He said stern action will be carried out against slow moving vehicles using main carriage way and vehicles involved in lane violation. Lauding the officers, he advised them to do their best in briefing the commuters to adopt road safety measures, especially during fog.
