Ministry announces funding of Rs 5m for minority students

LAHORE – The Punjab Ministry for Minorities and Human Rights has signed an agreement with Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) to impart training to youth belonging to minority communities in the province.
This was announced by Punjab Minister for Minorities and Human Rights Kamran Michael while presiding over a departmental meeting on Monday, the Minister informed that TEVTA will train and educate the students from minority communities residing in different parts of Punjab, in different skills and trades on merit within 5 per cent quota reserved for minorities.
Kamran Michael said that HR and MA department will pay essential fee of the students and provide funds to TEVTA in advance to bear all expenditures in this regard. He said that HR and MA department wants every student especially those who are without proper resources and strong financial backgrounds to get education and join mainstream. He further said that educational scholarships worth Rs 5million for technical and vocational training of minority students through TEVTA will be given out during the current fiscal year.
“Minorities have always played a vital role in integrity and prosperity of the country and they will continue to do so in future”, concluded the minister.
