LAHORE – Valentine’s Day was celebrated in some areas of Lahore on Monday. Shops were decorated with loud red hearts and embellishments while stuffed toys sat on shop windows waiting to be bought even on the day itself. Those caught in the spirit of celebration were seen wearing colourful clothes in shades of pink and red; girls as well as boys donned on red and pink shirts.
Couples enjoyed the day by taking a stroll in parks or having lunch or dinner at restaurants while some just shared dessert in cafes. In some private offices, flowers were given to all female employees on behalf of the organization, while others reported to have a collective lunch in office as an excuse to celebrate. Shop keepers had thrown themselves completely into the spirit of the festival.
Being the main commercial beneficiaries of the festival they were seen busily serving clients with gifts, chocolate boxes or flowers. Music blared from flower shops in some areas like Gulberg, MM Alam Road, Liberty market and others commercial areas while vendors sold specially decorated bouquets and bunches of roses.
