KARACHI – A meeting chaired by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Sindh Governor’s House on Monday decided that all universities of the province would follow the same rules and regulations. The vice chancellors of all universities in Sindh, Principal Secretary to Governor Mumtaz Rehman, Special Secretary Aftab Lodhi, Deputy Secretary Fazilat Mehdi and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
A charter inspection and evaluation team including the pro-vice chancellors of Tando Jam and NED universities was formed to submit its recommendations within a week for implementing the uniform rules. The committee will review issues facing universities in the province and the facilities being provided at the campuses.
Many other matters came under discussion at the meeting including the issues facing private sector universities; medical allowances for university employees; Rs 500 increase in medical allowances. On the occasion, the provincial governor ordered the vice chancellors that the land allotted to the universities was for educational facilities and should be protected from land grabbers.
