Aerial firing at wedding claims boy’s life

GUJRANWALA – An aerial firing at a marriage ceremony at Jandiala, Baghwala, claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy while the relatives and heirs of the victim blocked traffic by putting the body on Pasrur Road. Nadeem Butt’s friends resorted to aerial firing on his marriage.
One of the bullets hit Zohaib Gulzar who expired on his way to hospital. The villagers staged a protest and blocked the road. The police reached the spot and assured the protesters of arresting the culprits. Later, the Saddar police lodged an FIR against the bridegroom, his brothers and friends and started investigations.

Graeme Kirk said Rotary Club had been financing a number of welfare projects, including supply of medical equipment and vaccines, in poverty-hit areas. Earlier, the secretary presented a comprehensive report of the club’s activities to the foreign guest.
ZTBL’S PROFIT REACHES RS 520M: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) Gujranwala zone has earned Rs 520 million as profit while the performance of the bank has improved owing to the revolutionary reforms as deposits, utility bills and other banking facilities are being provided efficiently.
ZTBL Zonal Chief Ameer Abdullah Khan Niazi said this while addressing a congregation of farmers the other day and added a new branch would also be established in Gujranwala. He said the bank had recovered Rs 384.6 million this year which was more than that of the previous fiscal year.
The recovery from defaulters also scored success as 48 percent of the defaulted amount had also been recovered, he said, adding the farmers would be extended solar energy tube-wells and other facilities by the bank to get better output in the agriculture field.
KIDNAPPED BOY RECOVERED: Police have recovered a 12-year-old boy who was kidnapped for ransom a couple of days ago. City Police Officer (CPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said this while talking to journalists. He added Muhammad Sikandar Hayat, a resident of village Jandiala Baghwala, was kidnapped for Rs 150,000 ransom.
The police took the case as a challenge, traced the gang and recovered the boy safely, he said, adding the kidnapper Mahboob Alam had been arrested but his accomplices were still at large.
