Sherdils prevail in Fauji Cement Bridge

LAHORE – After 10 rounds of competitive bridge, the 2nd All Pakistan Fauji Cement Bridge Championship brought glory and lucrative cash prizes to Sherdils comprising team members Syed Saeed uz Zafar Shah, Shakeel Ahmed Chandna, Safdar M Khan, M Shamim, Asad Iqbal and Shahnaz Pirzada.
The event sprinkled some agony on the legends of Pakistan’s bridge scene that included Munir Ataullah and Javed Khalid’s team, Masood Mazhar and Hamed Mohiuddin’s team who at the end of the Championship had no option but to applaud the victory march of Sherdils. For the winners, it was not luck alone but a combination of features like endurance, stability, cool temperament and the latest techniques of the game and their application at the opportune moment.
Many of the front runners have displayed praiseworthy marksmanship accompanied by generous touch of sportsmanship and though they were without the top slot honors. Top five teams. Sherdils – Syed Saeed Zafar Shah Pirzada, Shakeel Chandna, Shahanaz Pirzada, Safdar M Khan and M. Shameem. – 169 VP. Praise and compliments to the organising team of Ihsan Qadir, Sarfraz Butt, Syed Ameer Hussain Umair Kausar and Asif Sheikh for their devoted efforts in making the Championship error free. Brig (r) Zubair Tahir gave sponsorship support.
At the conclusion of the championship, in a grand prize distribution ceremony, the prizes were awarded by Lt. Gen (r) Javed Alam Khan, Managing Director, Fauji Cement and Mian Misbah ur Rehman, Chairman, Lahore Gymkhana.
