PEF announces financial assistance for flood-affected schools

LAHORE – The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will help restore 86 partner schools in the flood-affected districts of the province. According to the rehabilitation plan a sum of Rs. 0.1 million each for completely damaged schools and Rs. 35 thousand each for partially damaged schools will be provided by PEF.
This was announced by PEF Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar while presiding over a departmental meeting of PEF program directors and departmental heads at his office. Raja Anwar hoped that rehabilitation plan will help resume academic activities in the marooned areas; he added that this will eventually help student community. The meeting was called to inform about the steps taken by the PEF to help affected partner schools.
It was also divulged that a rehabilitation program has been launched by the school education department to restore 400 affected Primary schools in riverside areas of Layyah, Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh districts where it will benefit 58,500 students. Raja Anwar directed the PEF officials to take determined steps for the promotion of education in economically deprived districts of Southern Punjab.
“Education is the fundamental right of children and PEF is playing an important role in achieving it”, concluded Raja Anwar.
