Moore masterminds Master Paints’ title victory in Aibak Cup

LAHORE – Master Paints clinched the second title of the season on Sunday when they beat PICIC Insurance in the final of the Aibak Cup Tournament at the Lahore Polo Club. Guard Group/Diamond Paints secured third place. Minister for Defence Ahmad Mukhtar was the chief guest and handed over the trophy to the Master Paints team.
Argentinean seven-goaler Gaston Moore masterminded the Master Paints win. He smacked four goals in the 5-2 win for his side. Rual LaPlacette hit the two goals scored by the losing side PICIC Insurance. Masters got their two goals in the second chukker and another three in the third chikker. Earlier in the day, Gerardo Mazzini was the man behind the win of Guard Group/Diamond Paints who beat Hataff 7-5.
The losing side enjoyed two-goal handicap and failed to cash in on it. Mazzini hit four goals and his teammates Raja Samiullah, Mir Shoaib Ahmad and Taimur Ali Malik shared one goal each. Omar Asjad Malhi and Bilal Haye showed some class in the opening minutes with two and one goal respectively for Hataff while the remaining part of the match was a one-sided affair.
Raja Temur Nadeem and Fernando Quinto Bourdieu umpired the final while Azhar Ali and Shaukat Ali Malik ensured fair play in the subsidiary final.
