Iftikhar seeks world’s help against terrorism

PESHAWAR – Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has urged the international community to support the government for eradication of terrorism, calling it not only a problem of this region but also a threat to the global peace. He said that fighting terrorism required the support of the world community and warned if the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government was not helped against terrorists the world would never find committed people like them who were sacrificing their lives for the world peace.
Talking to Canadian Senator Robina Jaafer on Sunday, the minister said since they were the followers of Bacha Khan. Women parliamentarians Musarrat Shafie advocate, Yasmeen Zia and Tabassum Katozai were also present. “To effectively fight terrorists, the strength of the police force has been doubled, increasing from 40,000 to 80,000. Compensation to the families of police martyrs has been increased from Rs 300,000 to Rs 3 million plus salary up to their retirement age,” he added.
He revealed the police had foiled 4 attacks of terrorists during the recent national games.
