Gang stealing mobile tower batteries busted

FAISALABAD – The mastermind of a series of raids on the towers of international mobile phone companies to steal their batteries was arrested. Ammar Haider son of Haider Zaman, a resident of Chak No 624 Haripur, Jarranwala, and his gang members used to visit the security guards of mobile phone towers posing as supervisors.
Later, finding a chance, took away expensive tower batteries to sell them in black market. Nishatabad SHO Inspector Mansoor Bilal was tipped off that the accused gang leader had stolen batteries worth millions of rupees. A police party arrested him during a dramatic raid and recovered batteries worth Rs 1.5 million from his possession. The police are hunting for his four accomplices.
Housemaid raped: A teenage housemaid working at the house of a police officer was raped by a man with the help of her employer’s wife. Reportedly, the wife of the police officer took the girl in a car and handed her over to a man who raped her. The police have reluctantly registered a case against the wife of the officer and two other accused.
Ashraf reported to the People’s Colony police that his 14-year-old daughter Nabeela was employed as a housemaid by Sub Inspector Muhammad Asghar who is in-charge investigations at Gulberg Police Station. Regional Police Officer Aftab Ahmed Cheema, taking notice of the case, appointed SP Lyallpur Town Rai Zameer-ul-Hassan as the inquiry officer who harassed the complainant Ashraf and submitted a report in favour of the police officer’s family.
