8,000 policemen will be on duty for Eid Miladun Nabi

LAHORE – More than 8,000 policemen would perform duty on the Eid Miladun Nabi, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen said on Sunday. He was chairing a meeting of senior police officers at his office, in which security arrangements for the Eid Miladun Nabi were discussed.
The CCPO ordered special surveillance and checking of all hotels and bus and wagon stands to avoid any untoward incident and ensure law and order on the sacred occasion. He directed officers to make effective arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic and said that Lahore Police would remain on high alert to maintain peace and harmony in the provincial metropolis.
The CCPO said that all entry and exit points of the city would be covered and crisis management centres have been established, which would function around the clock while a special control room has also established at the CCPO office for coordination between various agencies. Tareen said that a comprehensive security plan has been chalked out after consultation with leaders and traders of the city.
The CCPO directed divisional SPs to personally check deployment of policemen and patrolling of mobile squads in their respective areas. Tareen said that he would himself make surprise inspections to review security arrangements.
