LAHORE – Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Saeed Elahi has said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is a great admirer of the services of young doctors and all out measures are being taken for the solution of their problems. During the last 16 years, first time the present government regularized the services of more than four thousand medical officers and two thousand consultants, he said.
These views were expressed by him while addressing a reception hosted by Young Doctors Association Punjab at Fatima Jinnah Medical College today. Fatima Jinnah Medical College Principal Prof Dr Rakhshanda, Regional Director of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof. Javed Akram, representatives of YDA and large number of doctors were also present on this occasion.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that Punjab Chief Minister is giving due attention on the promotion of education and health sector. He further disclosed that a high level committee was constituted by Chief Minister for solving the problems faced by doctors has completed its work and recommendations will be sent to Chief Minister within couple of days. Dr Saeed further stated that salary packages of doctors would be made more attractive so that doctors would prefer to serving ailing humanity in the country rather than to go abroad for service.
He said that mission of doctors is not mint money but serving the humanity. He said that after 15 years, doctors are being recruited through Public Service Commission rather than on adhoc basis. He said that government is promoting merit and “safarish culture” is being discouraged at all level.
