ISLAMABAD – Speaking on the issue of immunity to Raymond Davis, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir on Saturday said he would not have sought immunity if he had done something criminal. Interacting with the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association, basher said, “If I had done something criminal, I would not have sought immunity.”
In its first formal but calculatedly guarded reaction to the issue of the American citizen, Davis, who had killed two Pakistanis in Lahore, he hoped “rationality and proportionality will be maintained in statements and actions” as Islamabad did not want the issue to damage Pakistan-US relations. He said it was now for the court to decide this issue as it had taken cognisance of this incident.
