LAHORE – A CNG gas cylinder, installed in a Toyota van, exploded during filling of gas in the precincts of the Chung police station here on Saturday, resulting in the death of three people including a youngster. In addition, twelve people including two women sustained serious injures.
The deceased were identified as Youhana (30), Faqir Muhammad (35) and Ubaid ur rehman (10), whereas the injured women were Bilquis (30) and Suraya (40). Details reveled that the incident happened in a Toyota van, carrying 15 passengers and commuting from Raiwind to Lahore. Edhi ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately and took the injured to a nearby hospital, where three were pronounced death while others received injuries.
Condition of the injured was reported to be out of danger, however some received critical burn injures. The van and roof of the CNG station was also damaged. Residents of the area feared of a bomb blast as sound of the outburst was huge. Police cordoned off the CNG station after the incident, claiming that the needle was not tight during gas filling. Bodies of the deceased were handed over to their heirs, who were found shocked over the incident.
Accidents: Two youngsters were crushed to death by a rashly driven car which ran over them in the jurisdiction of the Green town police station here on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Baber (17) and Aamir (20), residents of Township. Details disclosed that both friends were heading towards Ameer chowk, Military accounts society when a rashly driven car, coming from across the road, ran over them. Driver of the car managed to escape after the incident.
The injured where shifted to a nearby hospital, where the two were pronounced dead. A man received serious head injures as he fell from his motorbike while riding his bike on one wheel in the limits of Shad Bagh Police station. The injured was identified as Muhammad Khalid. As per details, Khalid was displaying antics and lost control, resulting in serious head injures.
An Edhi ambulance helped in shifting Khalid to Mayo hospital, where his condition was declared out of danger. Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmad Mobin directed all traffic wardens to strictly address the issue of riding on one wheel. He directed traffic wardens to catch one-wheelers and hand them to the District police.
