The first ever three days Tulip Flower Show came to an emotion packed conclusion at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, the beauty of the flowers providing an inspiration to a large number of flower enthusiasts, growers, farmers and families and at the concluding prize distribution ceremony overflow of emotions as the paintings of the tulips drawn by special children of Rising Sun Institute were displayed. Judges of the painting competition declared Umar’s painting as the top one and Dr.Tawab of Rising Sun School shared with the audience that Umar is a child who cannot walk, is unable to talk yet his painting reflected life at its colourful best.
During the three days Tulip Flower show over 3000 flower lovers visited the exhibition and members of the club and other horticulture specialists requested the club management to continue this event on a regular basis. Another outstanding feature of the event was the participation of students from NCA and other schools and colleges in the Tulip Painting Competition and the paintings were superb,as stated by the judges Quddus Mirza, Head of Fine Arts Department, NCA and Zara Aslam a well known artist. Out of 80 participants the top prize of Rs.20,000 went to Syed Shahzeb, second prize of Rs.15,000 to Amna Josh and third prize of Rs.10,000 to Saba Zahid.
At the prize distribution ceremony Dr.Tawab, Head of Rising Sun Institute shared with the distinguished audience mostly comprising ladies, that he started this school in his own home and gradually it became a complete organization with the help of generous contribution from donors like Ramzan Sheikh, his late father Sheikh Yousaf, Lt.Gen Khalid Maqbool and a large number of other contributors. It now has a state of the art building with real sincere team of teachers.
The concluding ceremony was also attended by Nosheen Sarfraz the spirit behind this effort, Kees, an expert from Holland, Pervaiz Qureshi, Director Royal Palm, and Mrs Samina Salman, President, Floral Art Society of Pakistan. Mrs Yousaf Sheikh awarded prizes to the winners.
