There are news reports regarding the decrease in salary packages of the government employees, but there is also hue and cry by the civil servants on this very issue. As a matter of fact, the perks and privileges are communicated well in time to the potential candidates.
But the candidates join public service with colonial mindset. The moment this lot enters practical government life, they get disillusioned and start showing their dissatisfaction about their low remuneration, forgetting their sole and primary purpose of serving the public.
Instead of thinking how to lessen the miseries experienced by the general public, they start writing articles wailing about their financial conditions providing them justification for corruption. Pakistanis have already suffered a lot on account of indifferent and lethargic attitude by these officials having been unwilling to change themselves. It is high time the public servants stopped cribbing about their pay and start delivering, avoiding any temptation of resorting to lame excuses for their poor performance.
