FIA given notice over Moonis’ proclamation

LAHORE – An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday issued notice to FIA for February 12 on an application filed against the impugned orders by Judicial Magistrate Irfan Basra regarding the issuance of a proclamation for the arrest of Moonis Elahi.
The application has been filed by Moonis Elahi through his lawyer Muhammad Amir, submitting that FIA on Tuesday obtained proclamation orders for the arrest of Moonis who was abroad at that time due to his personal engagements. FIA misled the court during the hearing to obtain the orders against a law abiding citizen like Moonis, who will be back soon, the application said.
Moonis has prayed the court to declare the orders passed by the judicial magistrate null and void. Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court on Thursday granted bail to former minister for defence Major (r) Habibullah Warraich and four other accused in the NICL scam.
Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik granted the bails, directing Warraich to deposit bail bonds of Rs 20 million to the satisfaction of trial court while the other four accused were directed to furnish bail bonds and sureties of Rs 1 million each. They include Syed Hurr Gardezi, Syed Ali Athar Naqvi, Muhammad Zahoor and Syed Zahid Hussain.
