Fatima Jinnah College’s Annual Sports Day held

LAHORE – Fatima Jinnah College organised its Annual Sports Day on Thursday as part of its silver jubilee celebrations. Chief Guest Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal inaugurated the sports day along with Fatima Jinnah College Principal Asia Begum and Sports Department Head Shazia Zainab.
Around 500 students participated in the event in which students from FA and BA classes participated in the march past and PT show. Asia welcomed the chief guest and appreciated her active participation in women development activities. She also thanked Uzma Haidar and Shazia Zainab for organising the sports day and appreciated students who took part in sports with enthusiasm.
The award for best athlete went to Romna Liaqat while winners of 100-metre race included Aima Liaqat and Romna Liaqat. The sack race was won by Romna Liaqat, Sadia Muhammad Ali and Maryam Afzal. A volley ball tournament was also organised in which eight teams from the Fatima Jinnah Colours, Queen Mary College, Kinnaird College, Kot Khawaja Saeed College, Islamia College Cantt, Fatima Jinnah White, Islamia College Cooper Road and old students participated but Islamia College Cooper Road prevailed.
The tug of war between students and teachers was won by teachers and faculty members also prevailed in the net ball match. Nasira said that players are ambassadors of peace and contribute towards the country’s good will. She said that active participation of women in sports could ensure a healthier society. The chief guest also distributed trophies and prizes amongst winners of various competitions.
