KARACHI – The Sindh High Court on Thursday summoned the Pakistan Army’s legal officer (deputy judge advocate-general) Headquarters Corps V, Karachi, the directors general (DGs) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Pakistan Rangers, and the Sindh home secretary on four different constitutional petitions seeking comments on missing persons.
The SHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai issued notices to the respondents for explanation on missing cases of four citizens. Four petioners sought recovery of their loved ones who they believed were whisked away by law enforcement agencies.
The chief secretary, federal interior ministry, Sindh Home Department, DGs ISI, Intelligence Bureau (IB), IM, Rangers (Sindh), and Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), Karachi CCPO, Crime Investigation Department (CID) SSP and other officials were cited as respondents.
The court after hearing their arguments adjourned the hearing until February 17.
