APWA celebrates Founder’s Day

LAHORE – The All Pakistan Women’s Association’s (APWA) Punjab chapter celebrated Founders’ Day in Lahore and held a seminar to recall 63 years of meritorious services rendered by Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Zeenat Fida Hassan and other veteran ladies for the uplift of women in society.
They said that despite some achievements there is still room to work for the betterment of women and it is the prime need to provide them with better opportunities of health, education and financial stability. They said that the platform of APWA has been used for the up-gradation of women especially in rural areas since 1947. They expressed their determination to continue with their efforts with more zeal for women’s causes.
They said that thousands of girls are now serving in different fields in society after getting education and training from APWA institutions. The speakers highlighted the role of media in improving status of women and lauded the efforts done during the last decade by electronic media.
Khawar Rashid, Naseem Rafaqat, Ruqayya Yousuf and Imtiaz, who were educated from APWA, shared their life stories. They said that they got a lot from APWA and now live an honorable life in society. They said, “Every girl can achieve power and confidence from APWA which also helps society a lot.”
Students of APWA Youth College performed on Faiz’s poetry ‘hum daikhengey” and Rohi Syed distributed shields among students and women of APWA Youth College. She presented a bouquet to Sajeela Aslam for her services.
