Three blasts rock police offices in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA – Three low intensity bomb explosions rocked Gujranwala on Wednesday, with the targets being a police station, an office of a senior police official and the police barracks. The first bomb targeted the office of the Central Investigation Agency followed by one targeting the office of the regional police officer shortly before 7am.
The blasts damaged outer walls and created craters. The third blast, which was comparatively of greater intensity, rocked the residence of an under-training ASP, Nida Chattha, in the Police Rest House in the CPO office complex. Two explosives, weighing almost five kilogrammes each, were diffused by the bomb disposal squad. Muhammad Yamin, an employee of the Special Branch, was injured after being hit by shards of glass from a broken window.
Another three were injured in the CPO office blast and were taken to hospital. CPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar told Pakistan Today that all explosions were timed devices, adding that they had not received any intelligence report in this regard.
β€œIt may be an attempt to create anarchy in the society and demoralise security personnel,” he said.
