KARACHI – Siddiq Abu Bhai is a lucky man to have Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah as his friend: removed nine days ago from his position of adviser to the government, Abu Bhai was appointed on Wednesday as coordinator to the Sindh government on political affairs.
The Sindh government’s Services and General Administration Department formally issued a notification about Abu Bhai’s fresh appointment on Wednesday. PPP leader Rashid Rabbani is already working as Advisor to the CM on Political Affairs, and Abu Bhai’s appointment seems more of a redundancy.
CM’s Special Assistant on Media Waqar Mahdi, however, told Pakistan Today that Abu Bhai will look after the “in-house” political affairs of the CM House, and Rabbani would oversee general matters. It is worth mentioning here that after the removal of CM’s 12 advisors, the Sindh government had appointed veteran party leader Taj Haider as coordinator to the Sindh government.
Haider was also given charge of the Sindh Information Department. Meanwhile, Mahdi and CM’s Press Secretary Allah Bachayo Memon told Pakistan Today that they had not yet seen the official notification regarding Abu Bhai’s appointment.
