LAHORE – Print and electronic media representatives on Wednesday condemned PU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran whose adviser Colonel (r) Ikram Ullah closed the varsity to journalists.
Ikram Ullah also misbehaved with journalists. On Ikram Ullah’s order, PU Chief Security Officer (CSO) Major Arif and his subordinates seized Pakistan Today’s (PT) correspondent, Adnan Lodhi, and cameraman, Murtza, and presented them before him. Major Arif threatened PT representatives of dire consequences.
They said that the varsity was their ‘property’ and they could do whatever they liked. Ikram Ullah instructed the PT correspondents not to cover Wednesday’s protest. Journalists demanded that the PU VC replace Ikram with a teacher, as retired army officers were damaging varsity’s repute.
