Master, Pomodoro triumph at Aibak

LAHORE – Gaston Moore led Master Paints to an emphatic win, while Fernando Quinto Bourdieu and Shah Shamyl Alam unleashed a combined effort to seal victory for Ciros’ Pomodoro/Al Khan in the Pakistan State Oil Aibak Polo Cup 2011 on Wednesday here at the LPC ground.
Gaston Moore scored six goals as Master Paints defeated half-goal handicappers Army/Adamjee Insurance by nine goals to five and a half. Moore struck three goals, while Hissam tapped home two goals as Master Paints led right from the start 5-1. Moore added another two in the second and one in the last chukker, while Hissam added one in the third chukker.
Julio Nevillo Astrada scored four goals from the losing side while Raja Tamur Nadeem added one. Ciro’s Pomodoro/Al Khan proved too strong a team for Hataff. Hamza Mawaz Khan, Dr. Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba and Fernando Quinto Bourdieu dominated the opening chukker. With just one goal coming from Hattaf’s Vierri Antinori, Pomodoro took control of the match as Fernando and Shamyl scored another two.
Vierri Antinori added another two goals for Hattaf, and Hassan Ali Farrukh gave Hattaf more breathing space with a sitter in the third chukker. But Pomodoro still led 5-4. Shamyl and Fernando put up another three goals to swell the lead to eight goals to five and half, with the losers having one and a half goal handicap. Umpires: Gerardo Mazzini, Saqib Khan Khakwani, Raul LaPlacette and Maj Haseeb Minhas.
