SAHIWAL – Sahiwal Division Commissioner Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq has urged the public servants in the division to provide maximum relief to the general public and take steps to eradicate corruption and mismanagement from all government offices. “The government servants should dedicate themselves to the welfare agenda of the Punjab government and redress public complaints,” he added.
He was addressing the government officers of all provincial and district government departments in his office at an introductory meeting after taking charge of the office. The district coordination officers of the three districts and all the officers concerned attended the meeting. He said that his agenda was to provide maximum relief to the people and to keep cities clean. He warned no leniency would be tolerated. He asked all tehsil municipal officers to ensure cleanliness in all the areas of their cities.
The commissioner asked the DCOs to re-establish complaint cells in all departments so that people could submit their complaints without any fear, adding he himself would review the performance of these cells periodically to see the relief given to the general public.
MAN KILLED: Unknown dacoits killed a government servant for resisting a robbery. According to details, Niaz Ahmed, an elementary college teacher, and his relative Fiaz Ahmed saw some unknown armed dacoits who were rustling oxen. Niaz Ahmed intercepted them on which they opened fire, killing Niaz instantly.
TWO ELECTROCUTED: Two people were electrocuted in separate incidents in the district. In the first incident which tool place at Chak No 100/6 R near Harrappa Road, two brothers Shahbaz and Tahir were standing at the bus stop when an electricity tower fell on them. Due to this Shahbaz died on the spot and Tahir received severe burns.
Rescue 1122 reached the spot and took Tahir to DHQ Hospital for treatment. In the second incident which occurred in Chak No 100/9L, 10-year-old Faizan was going to school. On the way, a high-voltage electric wire fell on him. As a result, he received severe burns and died instantly.
