KARACHI – The District and Sessions Court South on Wednesday confirmed the pre-arrest bail applications of nine labour leaders of KESC unions. Akhlaq Ahmed, Aslam Sammon Latif Mughal, Haji Shahzad, Usman Baloch, Arbab Asad, Haji Usman, Aziz-ur-Rahman and Raj Mir, along with hundreds of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) workers, allegedly attacked and damaged the head office of the power utility in Defence on January 20 after more than 4,000 employees were sacked by the company.
Earlier, the court granted them interim bail against surety bonds of Rs 25,000 each. On Wednesday, District and Sessions (South) judge Hasan Feroz confirmed the interim bail pleas and directed the suspects to submit an additional surety of Rs 25,000 each.
