LAHORE – Information technology (IT) training workshop was held on Tuesday on the second day of FAST Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) week. The event focused on informing IT students about the latest happenings in the IT world. Students from different universities and colleges attended the workshop.
Zeeshan Ahmed, a FAST student from the Computer Science (CS) department, presented the process of building a ‘cool website’ from scratch. Attendees showed interest in website construction without scripting and coding. He presented the process, from getting a domain name to selecting ‘cool’ themes for the newly-made website. The presenter showed how to develop and become the owner of a website in a few minutes.
Domain purchasing costs around Rs 800 to 1,000, while website registering fee is Rs 2,000 a year, the presenter says. The second presenter came up with an idea of making flash presentations on a website named as ‘Presie’. He showed how to make presentations lively and attractive. The website has a 30-day trial period, after which a ‘nominal’ amount had to be paid, the presenter explained.
‘Match to Catch’, was a game was organised by IEEE-NUCES. The game consisted of two rounds and teams from Beaconhouse School, Scarsdale International Institute, Lahore Grammar School, SKANS and Kinnaird College participated. The teams had to run and complete their tasks in minimum time. In the final round, Arooj Altaf and Syeda Arooshia Ali from Kinnaird College won the game.
