LAHORE – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted an accused who was earlier awarded life sentence by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on his alleged involvement in Ichhra bomb blast, five years ago.
Police had arrested Asghar, a resident of Sadiqabad, soon after the incident and had charged him for selling the bicycle which was used for the blast. He was tried in the ATC, which had awarded him life imprisonment on two counts. LHC had also upheld the decision.
The bench headed by MA Shahid Siddqiui held that there was no solid evidence that Asghar had sold the bicycle.
