KARACHI – Pakistan’s exports surged further, sustaining its exports record breaking spree, achieving its highest ever monthly exports of $2.329 billion in January, 2011. Sources stated that Pakistan’s exports during January, 2011 stood at $2.329 billion, 38.2 percent higher than $1.685 billion recorded in January, 2010.
Imports, during January, 2011, underwent a 3.7 percent increase and reached $3.444 billion compared to $3.321 billion in January, 2010. Total exports in July-January, 2011 stood at $13.279 billion compared to $10.784 billion, a growth of 23.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports aggregated to $22.57 billion in July-January, 2011 compared to $19.315 billion, a growth of 16.85 percent.
Earlier, the country had recorded the highest monthly exports of $2.127 billion in December 2010. The country’s exports, during December, 2010, stood at $2.127 billion, 35.9 percent higher than $1.566 billion in December, 2009. Total exports in July-December, 2010 stood at $11.010 billion compared to $9.099 billion, registering a 21 percent growth in the same period last year. While, total imports in July-December 2010 was $19.126 billion compared to $15.995 billion, a growth of 19.6 per cent.
The country’s exports, during November, 2010, according to Statistics of Federal Bureau, were valued at $1.78 billion, 17 percent higher than $1.52 billion during the same month last year. Exports, in July-November, 2010, exhibited a 19 percent increase to stand at $8.95 billion compared to $7.53 billion in the same period last year.
Reports reveal that total imports posted a growth of 21 percent in July-November 2010 and stood at $15.38 billion.
