World Mathematic Conference starts at GCU today

LAHORE – The 5th World Conference on 21st Century Mathematics 2011, the biggest ever international conference in Pakistan, will start today (Wednesday) at the Government College University (GCU), Lahore at 9:45am under auspices of the European Mathematical Society (EMS), International Mathematical Union (IMU), UNESCO, International Centre for Theoretical Physics Italy, Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
European Mathematical Society President Dr Marta Sanz-Sole will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the conference to be chaired by GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Aftab at the Bokhari Auditorium.
Distinguished guests and delegates from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, UK, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Norway, Nepal, China, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey, US and Vietnam will attended the conference.
The five-day conference will have more than 20 technical sessions besides meetings and informal discussion sessions.
