LAHORE – Punjab Agriculture Minister Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh has directed all Executive District Officers (EDO) to ensure availability of urea fertiliser in the market at government fixed rates. He warned that action would be taken against officers who fail to ensure fertilisers availability at fixed prices.
Aulakh issued these directives, while chairing a meeting of the Executive District Officers (EDOs) of Cotton Zone, here on Monday. The agriculture minister said that increase in urea fertiliser prices was unjustifiable and the provincial government had requested the federal government to ensure withdrawal of fresh hike in urea prices.
He added that the government had taken strict notice of urea fertilisers sale on rates higher than fixed by the government. He maintained that administration of all districts had been issued directives to keep a vigilant eye on the situation and to make a crack down on profiteers.
Aulakh stated that EDOs (Agriculture) and District Officers (Agriculture) were responsible to control the overcharging of fertilisers and black marketing. He said that agricultural promotion was at top priority of the present provincial government.
