LAHORE – Navy, PIA, SSGC and NBP won their matches in the 58th National Hockey Championship being played at the Faisalabad Hockey Stadium, Faisalabad, on Sunday. SSGC had to fight for a 2-1 win against Army, while Navy, PIA and NBP had an easy-sailing against Steel Mill 2-0, PTV 6-4 and Port Qasim 3-1 respectively.
Former international hockey player Mustafa Salaar was the chief guest of the last match between WAPDA and HBL. Monday is the rest day in the championship and the event will resume tomorrow.
Results:
SSGC beat Army 2-1. SSGC: Arslan Haider Sherazi 58th minute (FG) & Abbas Haider 60th minute (PC).

Navy beat Steel Mill 2-0. Navy: Rao Nadeem 2 goals 29th minute (PC) & 66th minute (FG).
PIA beat PTV 6-4. PIA: M. Zubair 10th Minute (FG), Kashif Ali 14th minute (PC), M. Irfan 39th minute (PC), Waqas Akbar 48th minute (FG), Yasir Islam 56th minute (FG) & Inyat Ullah 65th minute (FG).
PTV: M. Iftikhar 6th minute (FG), Waqas Butt 32nd minute (PC) & M. Fayyaz 2 goals 57th & 66th minutes (FG).
NBP beat Port Qasim 3-1. NBP: Ali Shan 16th minute (FG), Arslan Qadir 54th minute (FG) & M. Atiq 55th minute (PC).
Port Qasim: M. Shakeel Ahmed 11th minute (FG).
WAPDA beat HBL 2-1. WAPDA: Sohail Abbas 2 goals 22nd & 65th minutes (PC).
