ANP supports Karzai’s national reconciliation policy

PESHAWAR – Endorsing the national reconciliation policy of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, the Awami National Party leadership has floated the idea of Grand Jirga of leading Pakhtun tribal elders from both sides of the border.
“Terrorism is troubling the Pakhtuns on both sides of the Durand Line, therefore, the elders must realize their responsibilities for a way out,” said senior nationalist politician Mohammad Afzal Khan on Sunday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said, “Solution to all problems and issues lies in negotiations, therefore, we support Afghan president’s national reconciliation policy.”
The ANP leaders expressed these views while addressing a gathering held in memory of late nationalist politician Ajmal Khattak at Akora Khattak Nowshehra. It was the late leader’s first death anniversary. Mohammad Afzal Khan Lala, Senator Haji Mohammad Adeel and others also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of ANP workers from different parts of the province and adjoining tribal region also attended the memorial meeting. The speakers paid glowing tributes to late Ajmal Khattak. The ANP leaders said Khattak’s services for the Pakhtuns could not be forgotten.
