Pakistan ranked sixth in Fed Cup

LAHORE – Pakistan have secured sixth place in Fed Cup rankings after the team’s first appearance in nearly 12 years. India, with their poor showing, have been relegated to Group II while Indonesia have moved into Group I after they beat Hong Kong in the Group-II final match.
Oman and Kyrgyzstan follow Pakistan at seventh and eighth places. Pakistan, however, also lost their play-off tie of the Fed Cup to Turkmenistan. Pakistan went down 2-1. Ushna Suhail won her singles match but the other girls were defeated in straight sets.
Pakistan went into a fifth place play-off against Turkmenistan and were defeated with Ushna being the only player to have won against Amangul Mollayeva. But when she went into the doubles match along with Sara Mahboob, they failed to put up any fight.

Sarah Mahboob Khan (PAK) 61 61, Jenneta Halliyeva/Anastasiya Prenko (TKM) bt. Sarah Mahboob Khan/Ushna Suhail (PAK) 62 62, Final Positions: 1. Indonesia, 2. Hong Kong, China, 3. Philippines, 4. Singapore, 5. Turkmenistan, 6. Pakistan, 7. Oman, 8. Kyrgyzstan.
