Two rescue flights due for Cairo: FO

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office (FO) spokesman Abdul Basit Thursday said two special flights would be sent to Egypt within 24 hours to evacuate the stranded Pakistani diplomatic staff and other nationals Egypt. The assurance came as the family members of the people trapped in the strife-torn Egypt are worried over the lack of arrangements on the part of government for their evacuation.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the special plane would reach Cairo during relaxation of curfew hours, as the Pakistan’s embassy is making arrangements in collaboration with the Egyptian authority. On the other hand, the ministry is in contact with the PIA and will be responsible for all the expenses for the exercise.
The entire system has been paralysed in all the major cities of Egypt following the protests and clashes between the pro and anti-government groups. The family members are of the view that the Pakistani embassy is not cooperating with them and have demanded the government to take special measures for safety of their near and dear ones.
But Pakistan’s Ambassador in Cairo Seema Naqvi had earlier said all the Pakistanis in Egypt were safe but they could face food problem in case the protest would prolong.
