JI’s Munawar asks Fazl to quit Kashmir Committee

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hassan asked Parliament’s Special Committee on Kashmir head Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday to resign from his office for his failures on Kashmir issue. Addressing a press conference, he said the parliament’s committee failed in highlighting the Indian state terrorism in the Occupied Kashmir.
He backed the dialogue with India on the Kashmir issue but said that all the negotiations with India so far remained unfruitful as she had been declaring Occupied Kashmir as its integral part. JI tables amended bill for disabled people’s welfare Jamaat-e-Islami senators Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim khan and Afya Zia on Friday submitted an amendment bill in the senate for the welfare of persons with disabilities.
The JI lawmakers said the object of submitting amendments to the original Bill passed in 1981 was to introduce ‘a practical approach’ through proposed system at district, tehsil and union council levels, for the welfare of the special. It has been argued in the bill that during the last 30 years, neither there has been no ‘comprehensive legislation’ introduced in this regard.
The bill proposes a new Section 2A shall be inserted following the Section 2 of the Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) Ordinance, where 14 relaxations for special people have been recommended as top priority including a 2 per cent job quota and full waiver of admission fee at educational institutes. The amended bill demands interest-free loans up to Rs 50,000 to be provided by Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal to the persons with disabilities.
