DCO vows to remove encroachments, expand roads

FAISALABAD – The dividends of city government’s ongoing operation against encroachments will be enjoyed by the citizens in the coming months as most of the traffic-troubled spots have been cleaned up in an operation and District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nasim Sadiq has expressed his determination to expand the roads and highways to solve the traffic problems.
In the recent operation, the DCO, accompanied by Deputy District Officer Revenue (DDOR) Asif Chaudhary personally supervised the demolishing of shops from Eidgah Road to Jail Road. The University of Agriculture’s boundary wall on Jail Road would also be demolished to expand the road, the town administration said adding that the Narrwala Road would be declared one-way to control the traffic jams.
It further said that at the junction of Koh-e-Noor Chowk and Jarranwala Road, the existing road, leading to Madina Town College for Women, was being expanded while the boundary wall was already demolished to make a slip way along with the College Road. It said the Punjab Medical College (PMC) Chowk at Sargodha Road would also be expanded and for that purpose, it added that the PMC boundary wall would be demolished shortly to give way for the extension of the chowk.
10 kg Charas recovered from passenger: Police recovered 10 kilogram of charas while searching a suspect passenger at a bus stop during a routine checking. Reportedly, Mohammad Hashim, a resident of Rajan Pur, was boarding a bus at the bus stop when Tariq Abad Police Post Incharge Malik Tariq stopped him and recovered the contraband narcotic from him after a thorough search.
6th GRADE STUDENT GANG RAPED: Two people kidnapped an 11-year-old sixth class female student, gang raped her, dumped her in front of her house and fled away. The complainant Ghulam Abbass, a resident of Qasim Abad Shorkot Jhang, reported that his daughter Ayesha Abbass was taken away by the accused Ajaz and his accomplice who took her to a deserted place and raped her one by one.
In another incident, two people Ghulam Mustafa and Nasir Mahmood lured a minor boy Mohammad Nadeem, a resident of Rehman Colony Khurarrian Wala, and sodomised him.
LADY TEACHER INJURED: A lady teacher, pillion rider on a motorcycle, was seriously injured as she fell down from the bike when two muggers, on another motorcycle, pulled away her shoulder bag. Reportedly, Amtal Hafeez Bibi, a resident of Waheed Park West Canal Road, was returning from her school along with her son on a motorcycle and when they reached the railway crossing at Nigehban Pura, two armed dacoits, riding on a motorcycle, swooped at her purse from behind and pulled it away.
The victim could not maintain her balance and fell down from the moving motorcycle and suffered several injuries and bruises on her face, hands and feet. She was taken to the District Head Quarters (DHQ) Hospital where she was admitted to the emergency department. Robbers target bank visitors: Robbers have found a new way to hit their targets as they aim at those people who come out of banks after drawing cash or the families wearing gold jewelry after returning from the wedding parties.
In the first incident, Arfan Ali, a resident of Ghulam Mohammad Abad, who withdrew Rs 400,000 from a local bank, was chased by two armed people on a motorcycle that stopped him in Kabootran Wala Chowk at gunpoint and snatched the money. The robbers shot in Irfan’s leg when he attempted to resist and managed to escape without leaving any clue.
In the second incident, Tanveer Ahmed and his wife, residents of Nigehban Pura, were returning with Rs 250,000 drawn from a bank. When they reached near their house, two armed men on a motorcycle stopped them, snatched the money and a gold chain and ran away.
In the third incident, Mohsin Badar and his family were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in a private marriage hall in Amin Town when a group of four dacoits chased them and snatched 15 tolas of gold jewelry worth Rs 700,000 at gunpoint on the Canal Road.
