ISLAMABAD – The Court of Inquiry formed to probe into alleged malpractices in the National Logistic Cell has submitted its findings, opinion and recommendations to the chief of army staff for his consideration and perusal.
The Court of Inquiry formed by COAS General Ashfaq Kayani to probe the NLC scam was headed by a serving corps commander along with two major generals as members. It was the National Assembly’s Public Account Committee (PAC) that in its recent meeting took notice of involvement of several senior army officers in the NLC scandal while recommending action against them.
The auditor general of Pakistan had presented its report before the PAC that in negation of rules and regulations, the NLC had purchased vehicles and other stuff and also invested Rs 4 billion in the stock market against rules and regulations. Besides this several irregularities were also unearthed in the internal affairs of the NLC that resulted in a top level probe ordered by the army chief for which the Court of Inquiry was set up, an official said on Friday.
“The Court of Inquiry has completed its task and now the army chief will take a decision on its report,” the official said. Besides serving army officers some former officials are also said to be involved in the NLC scam.
