KARACHI – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Inspector Shafqat Mehmood flew Airblue flight No 451 from Karachi to Islamabad on Thursday in violation of CAA rules. Without informing the Airblue management, he took control of the plane carrying passengers and cabin crew, leaving behind the actual pilot.
Sources said that this move is in violation of CAA Rule 197/2/C. CAA spokesman Pervez George said that Mehmood is a pilot and he is aware of how to fly a plane. However, he refused comment on whether the CAA inspector has the authority to make such a move.
