It has to be said for the CM, Punjab that sickness does not get in the way of his work. We hear that this workaholic has had health issues and some that should have kept him on bed rest. But contrary to health manual dos and donts, he opts to go on the beat. Rumour has it that his above-the-call-of-duty activities have sometimes landed him in serious health problems. There have been times when the CM has carried out a surprise inspection, a condolence call, or even a motivation cum firing session with his bureaucrats while supporting a cold and high temperature. It is not unusual for him to end a typical work day with a dose of antibiotics to check a chest infection and even have a nursing assistant apply a nebulizer to clear his chest. Next day it is business as usual.
However, we hear that the health and work issues have influenced a radical change in his dressage. While the designer three piece suits, once his trademark, lie hanging in the wardrobe, he is now seen dressed in wind cheaters, caps and mufflers. Now all that can protect him from the cold but nothing it seems can insulate the man from his frenzied work routine. In his case, work, not laughter, is the best medicine.

Imran Khan may be away in Davos but he is certainly not wasting an opportunity to do what he does best. That is, America bashing, of course. On Thursday his party put on an effort to take out a protest march against the antics of Raymond Davis and have its views about US high handedness registered with the public. The intentions may have been good but the effort was lukewarm at best. There was only a splattering of people, the buses were half empty and the slogans did not have the one-liners and the fiery humour of The Khan. However, Imran has obviously not lost his touch even by remote control. The majority of participants in the rally were women. With a 51 percent female population in the country, surely The Khan needs to read the cards. That is, more on womens issues, less fire balling against Americans.
