LAHORE – Public Accounts Committee-II (PAC II) Chairman in Punjab Assembly Qadir Gilani is likely to submit his resignation next week after President Asif Ali Zardari expressed dissatisfaction over his performance, Pakistan Today learnt on Thursday.
PPP sources said that poor performance in the Punjab Assembly, coupled with alleged involvement of Abdul Qadir Gilani in the Haj scam, has forced President Zardari to ask for the PM’s son resignation.
They said that the expected resignation would be submitted with the renewed policy of PPP in Punjab. The PPP would criticise the PML-N led provincial government over its poor performance and would publicise malpractices of the provincial government. Sources claimed that as part of the new policy, Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz will present a charter of demand to Nawaz Sharif.
PPP would first correct its own position in the province and would later reveal its reservations with the working of Punjab government. According to media reports, Qadir Gilani was asked by president to quit from the slot voluntarily during a PPP Punjab lawmakers meeting.
