PIE pushes forward with power plans

LAHORE – Punjab Industrial Estate (PIE) is pushing forward with plans to establish power plants not only at Sundar but also at Rahim Yar Khan, Bhalwal and Multan Industrial Estate as well as evaluating alternate energy options. It is working towards the required gas quota and had requested the federal government for special consideration and on instructions of the Punjab chief minister, a special case was taken up with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources but the body has turned down the request of Punjab Government citing the limited gas supply available in the near future.
He informed that the three-year term of the previous Board of Management Multan had expired and that a new Board of Management will be notified shortly. Talking about loans given to PIE by the Punjab government and its return, he said that PIE had already returned 100 Millions. On his visit to PIE, the Punjab chief minister gave instructions that earnings of the PIE should be used for industrial infrastructure development in Punjab, in particular, lesser developed areas.
It was in this context that PIE is establishing new Industrial Estates of Rahim Yar Khan and Sargodha.
