Nurses protest for seven months’ allowances

LAHORE – A large number of nurses from the Saeeda Waheed College of Nursing and Fatima Memorial Hospital held a protest in front of the Punjab Assembly on Thursday against non-payment of allowance for the past seven months. They chanted slogans against the administration for not releasing the due allowance.
“The administration got an eight-year service bond signed by nurses while it was not paying our allowance for the past seven months,” said one of the nurses. The protesters also blocked the Mall Road for sometime but traffic resumed after the government official concerned reached the spot and negotiated with them. The nurses vowed to continue protesting if their “just” demands are not met.
