Prince Charles’s wife Camilla will appear on iconic British radio soap opera ‘The Archers’, following in the footsteps of Princess Margaret, an actress on the programme said Wednesday. The Duchess of Cornwall, an avid follower of the long-running rural soap, will appear in her role as the president of the Osteoporosis Society, said actress Sara Coward, who plays character Caroline Sterling.
Camilla’s appearance coincides with the 60th anniversary of the BBC programme, set in the fictional English village of Ambridge. Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister, appeared in the programme in 1984 to help promote children’s charity NSPCC. “It was fantastic to go to Kensington Palace to record with Princess Margaret 27 years ago and Clarence House was still more fun,” Coward said, refering to the official residence of Prince Charles.
“The Duchess was relaxed, charming and wonderfully natural,” she added. Camilla’s cameo, which was recorded in early December, will be aired on February 16.
