MQM presents 9-point agenda

ISLAMABAD – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday presented a 9-point agenda for economic reforms in the country with taxation of agricultural income at the top. Addressing a press conference, senior party leader Dr Farooq Sattar said the purpose of the agenda was to bring reforms in taxation system, adding that it particularly demanded the government impose agriculture tax.
Sattar claimed that by applying this agenda, the government could get additional resources of Rs 1,200 billion.He said the government could get Rs 680 billion by taxing the landlord of the country, the sugar mafia and by controlling corruption in the FBR.
“Agricultural income should be taxed as that will generate a revenue of Rs 200 billion per annum for the government,” he said.
