LAHORE – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Pakistan has signed a “Letter of Understanding” with a national youth led organization, Chanan Development Association (CDA) to strengthen Youth Peer Education Network (Y-PEER) in Pakistan as well as carrying out multiple youth development activities across the country.
The activities includes conducting National Training of trainers’ workshops for young trainers to equip youth lead organizations to execute peer education programs successfully. Provincial training workshops on Peer Education to enhance the knowledge and skills of young people for raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, gender equality and other youth sexual and reproductive health issues (SRHR) across Pakistan.
Establishing Provincial Youth Assemblies with the support of Provincial Youth Departments to strengthen political leadership on SRHR in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit and Muzafferabad Training young journalists across the country on effective reporting skills on youth issues. Providing seed grants to the young people and youth lead organizations to implement their innovative ideas to address the challenges faced by young people at grassroots level and Conducting National Youth Conference & Peace Festival for policy advocacy.
“Investing in youth and use their potentials as changing force is the need of the hour in Pakistan as only young people and gender equality can help country on a path to accelerated economic growth and equitable development”, said Muhammad Shahzad Khan, the Executive Director of CDA on the occasion.
